Robust Hydrophobic Polymer
PEHMA is an organic, hydrophobic and non-fouling polymer. It’s synonyms are 2-propionic acid, 2-methyl, 2-ethylhexyl ester, homopolymer; poly(hexyl ethylmethacrylate); polyhexyl ethyl methacrylate. PEHMA is part of the poly(alkyl methacrylate) family and known for:
- Chemical resistance
PEHMA is incredibly robust while remaining flexible, and when pressed into a film at 1.5 micron thickness it allows for >92% visible light transmittance with <1% haze in the visible spectrum.
PEHMA is offered as a granular solid with <2000 ppm of solvent and <1000 ppm of monomer for research and medical grade applications and can also be supplied as 50% wt solids in cyclohexane for commercial applications.
PEHMA is analyzed through inherent viscosity to meet the following specification range:
|Inherent Viscosity (@ 25°C in Toluene)||0.7 – 1.3 dL/g|
Should your application require a specific IV range, Polymer Chemistry Innovations can tailor manufacturing to precisely meet your needs.
CAS Registry Number
|Temperature Gradient||-6°C, -10°C
|Inherent Viscosity||0.7 – 1.3 dL/g at 25°C in Toluene|
|Residual Solvent||< 2000 ppm|
|Residual Monomer||< 1000 ppm|
|Visible light transmittance||92.7% (400-700nm) at 1.5 micron thickness|
|Average Haze||0.82% in the visible spectrum (400-700 nm)|
PEHMA is an organic, hydrophobic and non-fouling polymer that is robust while remaining flexible. This unique polymer creates an incredibly clear film with minimal haze and is well suited for a range of applications.
