Uses and Applications

PolyBenzImidazole (PBI) is a polymer with extremely high temperature stability (it has no melting point and also does not ignite) and high chemical resistance, which can be made into a fiber with excellent textile and tactile performance. Due to its exceptional thermal and chemical stability, it is often used by fire departments and space agencies. Recently, PBI has received much attention for its use as a high temperature fuel cell membrane.
