Methacromer PS12
Methacromer PS12 is a methacrylate-terminated polystyrene that
co-polymerizes readily with various acrylates and acrylamides. It imparts toughness, yet keeps the polymer thermoplastic. Its physical properties are much like low-weight polystyrene.
Methacromer PS12 is soluble in wide range of organic solvents. Exposure to strong oxidizing agents should be avoided. It is normally shipped in cyclohexane at 33% concentration by weight and is ready for co-polymerization with other suitable monomers. Solids can be made available.
Uses and Applications
This type of macromonomer allows formulators to modify polymers with a high degree of control. It is especially attractive to adhesive manufacturers since it can be used to increase sheer strength with only minor effects on peel strength.
Methacromer PS12 is available in a standard molecular weight range of 11,000 to 15,000 (with 12,000 as the target molecular weight). However, molecular weight can be modified to meet individual specifications.
